Using a tax refund to boost your home value

Postby JoanHarman » Mon Apr 27, 2015 1:23 am

Tax season is over, which means everyone should either already have or be getting their tax refund in the next couple of weeks. There are a lot of different ways you can spend that money, but one way that will improve your everyday life and home value is to remodel a few different parts of your home. Here are a few recommendations for ways you can use your tax refund on your home, thanks to KTAR News.

Paint: One of the best ways to refresh your home without a lot of work is with a good paint job. New paint can make any room look completely new.

Lighting: New lighting can give your home a completely new look. Just brightening up the place with LED bulbs will bring up the mood of anyone coming or going.

Front door: Painting or refinishing your front door will give a new look to your home, both inside and out. A door that you use and look at every day deserves better treatment, and it won’t take a lot of cash to get it up to speed.

Replace finishes: Faucets, handles, and other knobs in the home can be quickly and easily replaced to offer a fresh, updated look. Even if it is the only update you make to your home, it can quickly boost your home value and make people who come in feel like they are in a nicer home.

Window coverings: Window blinds and drapes get outdated very quickly. One quick way to improve the value of your home is to either give those blinds a deep cleaning or replace drapes with something a little more modern. New, clean draperies will make it feel much cleaner and newer in a home.

Patio furniture: It is almost time for summer barbeques and outdoor fun. As the heat increases and people are more interested in being outdoors, updated lawn furniture or new, bright cushions will liven up the place and give your home a better value. There’s no better way to use your tax refund this year.
