Solar hot water heats for indoor home application are not getting used a lot in the US but they are very popular in China and the rest of the world. Why is that? Are they not financially sound investments in the US or are there other reasons?

I think solar hot water is rather expensive in the U.S. As I can see why they are commonly used in China because they are producing a lot of solar hot water systems and panels. As for the European, maybe they have more incentive?

I don't think this could be the reason for not using hot water solar heater in U.S. Another reason could be that the America is a cold place. People used to prefer geyser than solar heater. As there is a minimum occurrence of sun.
