Should I install solar panels facing south or west? Which is better?

In general, south facing panels will get more sun since it will capture sunlight from morning thru afternoon. However, if there is too much shading on the south facing roof, you may have to compromise and pick a different direction. A solar PV contractor can help you determine the best available spot for the house.

As said above, due south is obviously the best method (and will get you the greatest ROI)
If your roof angle is quite shallow, fitting panels to both sides may provide you with a reasonable amount of direct sunlight throughout the day. Also, you might want to consider one of the various other methods of PV generation - perhaps a free standing ground mounted ?

Solar is very helpful in saving electric energy because it gives much help in the proper functioning of the air condition to achieve proper ventilation.
