Re: Little detailsReading shmoo's case, it makes me thinking to check our air ducts. It seems to me there's not enough warm air coming to our family room areas. Good thing that the air ducts are in the attic and not the crawlspace. I don't mind to go up to the attic but not the crawlspace.
Re: Little detailsI have the same issue in my bedroom. When I called contractor for suggestion that why it is so happen then he told me that some ducts had little cracked and hence the air flow is not proper. So, I have decided to replace a cracked portion and now the air is flowing constantly and have no issues now.
Re: Little detailsIt's not uncommon to have ducts loosened at the connections. Check all connections to see if they are leaking heat. Or have a home performace contractor help you to detect the leakage. Make sure it's heating your living space and not the attic.
Re: Little detailsI had problems of one room too warm and the other too cold, but the contractor did not know why and he suggested to replace my old system. I haven't made the decision yet because it's still running ok.
Re: Little detailsI had an audit done for my home. There was a detailed report on what needs to be done to save energy and keep the temperature even in my house. One of the photos showed a duct was totally separated sitting on the ground of our crawlspace. We put the duct back together ourselves. I'm not sure if the suggested work is necessary.
