Travertine is a variety of natural stone that is widely employed as tile for the augmentation of walls and floors. It is the same variety of stone as Marble, Granite, Limestone, Onyx, Slate etc. It is found in white, cream and rusty textures. Most commonly, people use travertine tiles for bathrooms and kitchens, but these are also used for landscaping and outdoor recreations.
It is an expensive variation of natural stone, which should be kept well maintained. Otherwise, the classy, natural feel of your bathroom and kitchen will shoo away. and wall tiles match perfectly with ambiance of your bath area and enhance the look and feel manifold. Great many people feel that keeping and maintaining the shine and beauty of the travertine tiles in their kitchen and bathroom is an intricate affair, but it is not as difficult as it seems. In fact, if you take good care of travertine floorings, then it would stay for a long duration of time.
Wipe the spillage immediately – Most importantly, you should swiftly clean the spills and splashes from the floors and wall of travertine tiles. At most, dirt spots become hard and rigid, if you do not clean them immediately. Instead, they take away the shine and whiteness of the tile. Therefore, any spill should be cleaned right away.
Use brush and lukewarm soapy water – It is the best preparation that will help you clean the less shiny or dirtier area on the tile. At first, you should apply the solution over the stain, and leave it for a few minutes. After that, with gentle up and down moves of your hand, you should rub the brush over the spot. It would be much better if you would use liquid soap.
Preventions – “Prevention is better than cure” – is a universal proverb. If you are taking precautionary measures, there will be less chances of your tiles’ getting dull and dirty. For instance, you should always place a coaster below your glasses and coffee mugs. If tea, coffee, or gravy splashes on the floor, you should pour some water on it. It will de-intensify the color of the beverage or food, and will help you clean the mess, without making hard efforts. Do not leave soaps, shampoos and cold drinks on the floor; they also leave harsh, incorrigible marks on tiles. Additionally, you should wipe the floor regularly to avoid jarring spots on it.
