Green Remodel Forum is excited to partner with GreenEarthEquities and Summit Energy Solutions in an energy efficiency remodel.
As Green Remodel Forum is an informational website for up to date information on how to make your home green, healthier, more comfortable, durable and achieve energy efficient at the same time, we are always looking for projects that provide live examples to help homeowners understand the keys steps of green remodeling.
GreenEarthEquities is founded by Dave Robinson, winner of BPI’s 2012 Tony Woods Award for Excellence in Advancing the Home Performance Industry. He has had many successes in making energy efficiency remodeling of foreclosed homes, most of them in Fresno, CA and has been trying to replicate the method in other parts of the country. The remodeled homes are flipped or leased out with option to buy, depending on the real estate market condition.
Summit Energy Solutions, owned by Tom Smith, serves several counties in Maine. He is a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified Building Analyst, approved contractor for Efficiency Maine, as well as a FLIR certified Thermographer. Tom’s home performance company specializes in making homes and small businesses energy efficient. One of Tom’s properties is a 150 year old 4 unit farm house that uses so little fuel that his supplier asked him if he was buying oil from another vendor. His experience in investment real estate and old farmhouses in particular is a good match for our first cold climate project (Zone 6). Tom, who has been a follower of the Green Earth Equities webinars, is eager to apply GEE’s methods in Bridgton, on the western part of Maine.
We are about to acquire a foreclosed home and we plan to follow our green hearts to turning an ugly 113 year-old leaky home into an energy efficiency local gem. We will chronicle the entire process in a series of blogs as the project progresses.
