If used properly, Solar PV is really worth it. You can help in saving our nature and you can also save some buck in using this product.

Photovoltaic systems (PV system) use solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity. A system is made up of one or more solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, an AC/DC power converter (also known as an inverter), a racking system that holds the solar panels, and the interconnections and mounting for the other components. A small PV system may provide energy to a single consumer, or to an isolated device like a lamp or a weather instrument. Large grid-connected PV systems can provide the energy needed by many customers.

The price for solar panels have gone down so much in the last couple of years. The price of a solar system is looking more attractive if you have the money to buy it upfront. Leasing it is popular option nowadays.

If you’re still considering installing solar panels on your house, read both of these first – and in particular, pay attention to the recommendation that before considering any renewable technology, you should first do the easy and cheap stuff – insulation, draught-proofing and taking more care in how you use your heating and hot water system will help keep your bills down with very little effort...

I would say if you do all the low hanging fruit such air sealing, insulation (or add more insulation),and sealing ducts. By doing that you can easily save you at least 20% of your heating bill. Then you only need a smaller heating and cooling system. And you home will be much more comfortable. By then you need few panels for a solar system.
